Rocket Men
Hamas resumed firing their rudimentary, ineffective rockets in November 2008. Previous to that, for a period of over four months, Hamas did not fire a single rocket or mortar. During this lull, negotiated between Israel and Hamas, there was an average of three rockets fired per month (down from a previous average of 179). Other militant groups linked to Fatah, the PIJ and the Army of Islam were responsible for those attacks during that time. On November 4, an IDF force entered Gaza to deal with an alleged tunnel into Israeli territory. Six Hamas operatives were killed in the operation. Hamas then began firing rockets into Israel.
